Fly Tying and Casting class schedule

Fly Tying
Beginning fly tying classes are offered on a monthly basis. The basics of tying nymph, dry, and steelhead flies are explained during hands on sessions. Four two-hours sessions are provided with the classes usually scheduled for Tuesday and Thursday evenings. All materials are provided.

Advanced Fly Tying
River City also offers classes put on by local experts from time to time, so watch the schedule each month or give us a call to see what we have in the works.  Advanced fly tying classes can also be made available upon request.

Classic Atlantic Salmon Flys (Advanced Fly Tying)
Tie your own Married Wing, Spey and Dee salmon flys.  Learn about the history, materials and tying methods used by the old masters to construct Victorian era Atlantic Salmon Flys.  With practice, create heirloom quality flys suitable for framing.  Basic fly tying knowledge is required.  Class includes Tying materials, personal instruction by , lunch & beverage. Covers fundamentals including Roll Cast, Pickup & Lay Down, False Casting, Shooting Line and Line Handling.  You'll be casting 30' in minutes!

Advanced
Learn presentation casts, reach cast, single and double haul distance casting, loop control and line speed techniques and special requests.

Spey Casting
We also offer two-handed spey casting upon request.
